Keep Safe in Winter

The Police and Barnet Borough Watch advise residents to remain vigilant throughout the dark winter months and make sure that properties have secure locks on all windows and doors.

When properties are unoccupied, timing switches can be used to switch on lights and radios at certain times, which will give opportunist burglars the impression that there is someone at home.

Smart Water

New Neighbourhood Watch signs have been positioned around the Golders Green Estate, together with signs warning potential criminals that Smart Water has been rolled out across the estate.

Smart water is a new forensic liquid that can be used to mark valuables. Once applied it is almost impossible to remove and can only be seen under UV light. Forensic analysis provides conclusive proof of ownership.

Litter Pick: 5 December 2015

Our next litter pick-up will be on Saturday, December 5th, 2015.

Please join us at 10:15 am in the Ron Thomas Hall, 167A Cheviot Gardens, ready for a 10:30 start.

There will be a short introduction, after which we will work in small teams in different areas.

We aim to finish at around 12:30 pm.

Please bring strong gloves and wear sturdy shoes or boots.

Barnet Council has kindly provided litter pickers and waste bags.  Our own Golders Green Estate hi-vis jackets will also be available.

Children are more than welcome to join in, if supervised.

It would help us to have an idea of numbers if you could please let us know if you intend to come.

Bulb Planting

The Metropolitan Public Gardens Association in association with Taylors Bulbs of Holbeach has donated 1,300 spring bulbs for us to plant in the Pennine Drive Roundabout – including Irises, Alliums, Hyacinths, Tulips and Daffodils.

Planting will take place at the same time as the litter pick-up.  So do come along to help with this.  Meet at the Ron Thomas Hall at 10:15 am, or come straight to the roundabout a little later.

Please bring any handy tools such as trowels and help produce a beautiful display for spring!
